The Unnecessary Data Cleanup Tool is the final step of the Transition to the Final Salesperson Assignment Logic. Once you complete this step, your transition will be complete, and you will no longer have access to the bulk Customer Limiting/bulk DivisionID removal tools. This article describes the data that is used and relied upon in the Legacy Assignment Logics, and how that data is used differently in the new assignment logic.
Hardcode Salespeople
For those on Legacy Assignment Logics, Hardcoded Salespeople and Territory-based salespeople were both assigned to a Retailer on the same Data Table.
For the original MarketTime assignment logics (Pre-2024), All of the salespeople that were assigned to a customer were ranked in numerical order. When a Division based conflict arose, all orders defaulted to the Top Ranked Salesperson, with no other ability to break a tie.
For the Brandwise-based MarketTime assignment Logic (Most users implemented in 2024), All of the Territory-Based Salespeople were ranked in numerical order, but there was no ability to configure a tiebreaker. Hard-Code Salespeople were designed to take precedent over the Territory-Based salespeople in all circumstances. Hard-Code Salespeople were not in the numerical ranking with Territory-Reps, but instead were assigned a "Salesperson Type" of 0.
In the Final Assignment Logic, Hardcode Salespeople are the only Salespeople that will be configured on this screen. The Territory Based salespeople will still be considered for Order Assignment, but they are no longer stored on the same data table as the Hardcode Salespeople. When editing a customer, the tab is now configured to show "Hardcode Salespeople", and has a new feel for optimal User Experience. For customers that assign by Bill to, There is just one "Edit Hardcode" button that allows you to manage the Hardcoded Salespeople:
For customers that assign by Ship To, there will be a Select/Check Box for each Ship To Address. You will see multiple Rows if there are Multiple Salespeople/Divisions assigned to each address. You are now able to select multiple ship to addresses and click the "Edit Hardcode" button to update all selected Ship To's at once. This will overwrite existing hardcodes with the what you configure.
In the Final Salesperson Assignment Logic. You can configure a Hardcoded Salesperson to be the "backup" for Territory Reps, or, the "Priority" over territory reps. This is configured by Enabling or Disabling the "Limit To Hardcode" checkbox. For more information on this, please see our article here
How to see Territory Reps for a customer
Before Editing any Customer, observe the "Hardcode Salespeople" column on the View Customers screen. Depending on how the customer is configured, there are different options for you to interact with this column in order to see the Territory Reps for that customer
Ship-To Location ID's no longer stored for Customer's that assign by Bill-To
In the Legacy Assignment Logics, every salesperson assignment to a customer (Both Hardcode Salesperson and Territory Salesperson) required a Ship To Location ID. If a New Ship-To was created for a Customer that assigns by Bill-To, the Salespeople were supposed to be automatically assigned to that new Ship-To. However, this process failed often, especially when a B2B Retailer would create a new Ship-To on a different RepGroup's B2B website. The New Ship-To Location was commonly without any Salesperson Assignment, which caused for orders to be unassigned as well.
In the Final Assignment Logic, Customers that assign by Bill to have a NULL ShipToLocationID in our Database. The new Order Assignment logic will ignore the Order's Ship To Location if the customer is set to assign by Bill-To, and the Hardcode Salespeople will be considered for all of that Customer's Ship To Locations.
For Customers that assign by Ship-To, we will still be assigning the Salesperson directly to each Ship To Location ID. If a New Ship To is created, any Territory Rep will immediately be in place, because the Territory Rep is no longer required to be directly assigned to any customer/ship to location. However, Hardcode Rep would be empty for the new Ship To Location until it is configured.
So what happens when I use the Unnecessary Data Cleanup Tool?
MarketTime is evaluating your Territories, the Salespeople assigned to those Territories, the Zip codes within those territories, and then the Salespeople that are assigned to the Retailer's who fall within those Territories. These Territory-Based Salesperson Assignments are being deleted, as Territory Salespeople are no longer necessary to be assigned directly to customers. Any Salespeople that are Out of Territory, but are assigned to a customer, will be converted to a Hardcode
MarketTime is evaluating all customers as to whether they assign by Bill To or Ship To. If the Customer assigns by Bill To, we are consolidating any Hardcoded Salespeople records by removing the Ship To Location ID. If the customer assigns by Ship To, we are leaving Ship To Location ID in tact.
MarketTime is changing a backend setting that holds the configuration for Salesperson Assignment type for your RepGroup. This backend setting is being updated to become the Final Salesperson Assignment Logic's configuration ID.
Once the tool has been completed, your transition is complete! You will no longer have access to the tool, and have access to all of the new User Interfaces that come with the Final Salesperson Assignment Logic.
