Parent/Child Item Management

In situations where you have an item that may have ancillary items that go along with it, the Parent/Child Item feature will help do so.

Managing Excel File with Items

Using the example below, the item 1000 is the Parent Item:

Parent items aren't usually an item themselves, but a representation of the collection of the child items. In this case, it's the group of Pendant Candles.

In additional to the normal importable columns for items, this example includes the Parent Item column, that allows you to designate which items should be associated Parent Item you've created.

Import your items as you normally would on the Import & Export screen.

Managing Items within MarketTime

In addition to importing your items with the Parent/Child relationship, it can also be managed from within MarketTime.

This typically begins by creating your Parent Item, and using the Linked Items tab within that item:

This tab allows you to link additional existing items to this Parent  using the Link More button, or create a new item to link with the New button.

Viewing the items as a retailer on your B2B website

Now that you've created the Parent/Child relationship either via Excel or within MarketTime, browsing your B2B website as a retailer will show you the results.

Finding the Parent Item will display the Child Items along with it, allowing your retailers to browse that collection in one location:
