This article outlines the recommended steps to follow when a Salesperson is leaving your organization and
their accounts, orders, and territories need to be reassigned.
Overview
When a Salesperson departs, there are several key actions that need to be taken to ensure a smooth transition
of their data to a replacement or existing Salesperson. Follow the steps below in order.
Step 1: Add a New Salesperson (If Applicable)
If the departing Salesperson is being replaced by someone entirely new to your organization, you'll need to create their profile first.

If the replacement Salesperson already exists in your system, skip to Step 2.
Step 2: Unassign Territories
Remove the departing Salesperson from any assigned territories. This ensures they are no longer associated
with geographic or account-based regions.
Reassign those territories to the new or existing Salesperson who will be taking over.

Step 3: Transfer Orders
Transfer any open or pending orders from the departing Salesperson to the replacement. This keeps order
history intact and ensures nothing falls through the cracks.

Step 4: Transfer Customers
Move all customer accounts from the departing Salesperson to their replacement. This ensures the new
Salesperson has visibility into the full customer list.

Step 5: Set the Old Salesperson to Inactive
Once territories, customers, and orders have been reassigned, set the departing Salesperson's status to
Inactive. This removes them from active workflows without deleting their historical data.

Step 6: Inactivate the Old Salesperson's mtPro License (If Necessary)

Step 7: Contact MarketTime Support
After completing the steps above, reach out to MarketTime Support and request that the Salesperson role be
removed from the departed user's account. This finalizes the off boarding process, and removes their access to your MarketTime data.
Important Considerations
- Complete the steps in order.
- Review territory assignments carefully. Ensure no territories are left unassigned after the departing
Salesperson is removed. - Check for any additional associations. Depending on your setup, the departing Salesperson may have
other data tied to them (e.g., commission structures, reporting hierarchies) that may need attention. - Communicate with your team. Notify relevant stakeholders (other reps, managers, customers if
appropriate) about the transition.
